Don’t Just Learn, Practice The Skills Needed To Feed Infants In The NICU

  • Fifteen modified barium swallow studies (5 preterm infant studies, 3 child studies, and 7 adult studies.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify clinical markers associated with aspiration in preterm infants.

  • Describe the laryngeal chemoreflex and cough reflex developments.

  • Recognize infant engagement and disengagement behaviors.

  • Interpret infant behavior during bottle feeding to neurological integrity.

  • Assess preterm infant feeding abilities using the OFS approach.

  • Explain rationales for interventions and recommendations.

Student Course Fees:

Student Fees if enrolled in university course SLP, OT, PT or Nursing: $100 per student

If university professor agrees to use the laboratory in a course for three consecutive years, 50% discount per student: $50/student
